A SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP FOR YOUNG CHILDREN
We are a group of Special Educators who take a cognitive, play-based approach to scaffold social skill development. We individualize our curriculum in order to address each child’s specific social concern. We use play based methods, and create child-led activities for our sessions to teach and practice specific social skills.
In addition to play we end each session with a short cooking activity where we continue to develop social skills as we pass materials, wait our turn, and add to the same recipe! Cooking also provides the children practice with skills like self-regulation, attention and executive functioning which are important for social success.
